Following a three week trial in federal court, Jacob Lee was part of the defense team that obtained a defense verdict on behalf of two police officers and a governmental entity. The plaintiff, a dermatological surgeon, alleged the police officers illegally detained and falsely arrested him, and used excessive force in making the arrest. The plaintiff also alleged the officers were negligent and failed to follow departmental training and policies. The plaintiff claimed he was permanently injured as a result of the incident, resulting in diminished earning potential. The plaintiff sought $196,000 in past and future medical expenses; $25 million in past and future lost earnings; $5 million in pain and suffering; and $5 million in punitive damages. The jury deliberated approximately an hour and a half before returning a defense verdict on all claims.
